• October is Mi'kmaq History Month - For the most part, children do not recall positive experiences while attending Indian residential school. They were forced to abandon their language, cultural beliefs, and way of life, and mandated to adopt the European languages of English or French, foreign religious denominations, and new habits.


• Yearbook Club – There will be the first sign up meeting today at lunch in the library.


• Girls B Volleyball - Practices will be every Tuesday and Thursday at lunchtime in the gym starting today. Bring your lunch to the gym on these days.


• Girls A Volleyball - There is a practice today from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. If you cannot make the practice then you are to see Mr. Gallagher or Ms. Fitzpatrick. If you are not there or have not seen your coaches, you will be removed from the team.


• Best Buddies - Please check your gnspes for interview times. There will also be a first session today at lunchtime in room 160. 


• Jr. Boys Soccer – There is a game today against Park West at the Glenbourne Soccer Field at 5:15pm.


• Chess Club – The first meeting will be on Monday, October 17, at 2:30 pm in Mr. Drake’s room # 107. Forms are still available for new players. See Mr. Drake if you have questions.

 

• Remembrance Day Poster Contest - Calling all artists! Calling all those who can draw or paint. Fairview is having a Poster Contest. The theme: Remembrance Day and honouring our veterans. There will be prizes for the best art work. Bring your art to the office or to Ms. Chisholm's class - room 110.


• Picture Day – Will be tomorrow. Classes will be called down.


• Nourish Your Roots - Fairview, we’re doing an amazing job selling boxes for our Nourish Your Roots campaign. Your hard work benefits our school’s healthy food programs like our Breakfast Program and Healthy Eating Initiative. Keep up good work and come to the office to get the order forms. Deadline is October 21.
