June is National Indigenous History Month  - This is a time to honor the history, culture, and diversity of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples in what we now know as Canada and to recognize the strength and resilience across communities.

June is Pride Month – It is celebrated in June because of an event at the Stonewall Inn in the US. The Inn was a popular place for LGBTQ+ community. Police raided it in June 1969 arresting several people and roughing up patrons. People outside witnessed what was happening and started to stand up to police starting a riot. This lead to what is known as the Stonewall riots. These riots were the spark that ignited the LGBTQ+ rights movement. During pride month we commemorate the struggle for civil rights and ongoing pursuit of equality. We also celebrate the accomplishments of LGBTQ+ individuals.

Rugby – permission forms for the event today must be submitted to the office or Mr. Morton by 2:30pm today. If you are attending, but cannot submit the form, please speak to Mr. Morton during lunch today. Rugby end-of-season tournament is a 4:00pm at Clayton Park Junior High today. Players should be at the field at Clayton Park by 3:45pm. Good luck to Fairview's THREE teams who are participating!

Trip to Observatory – Fairview Astronomy and Space team, after-school field trip forms are due by Friday or Monday at very latest. See their Google Classroom for details on the time change from 6:30 pm to now starting at 6:00 pm. The event is still on Tuesday, June 7th and from 6:00-9:00pm. We are going to Saint Mary's University observatory, all are welcome!

Boat Cruise – Attention grade 9s, there will be a boat cruise dinner on June 15. The cost of the trip is $ 36.00. You can purchase it online or bring cash (exact amount) or cheque to the office.  

Scent-Free – Reminder students, we are sent-free school. No cologne, perfume or other strong-scented products. We have students and teachers with severe allergies and asthma. It’s very dangerous for them.
