October is Mi'kmaq History Month - The Indian residential school system was based on the clearly stated Canadian government goals of assimilating Indigenous people, deemed to be the most effective way to “civilize the Indians.


School Council - Do you want to get involved in the school? To be able to influence what's going on at Fairview Junior High? Come to room 203 at the beginning of lunch for a quick five minute information session about our student council! If you want anything to happen at the school, come and make it happen yourself! You will be let go in time to catch the bus. For those five minutes, you could be able to help organize fun activities at the school. Again, room 203 at the beginning of lunch!


Co-Ed Flag Football - The second try-out will be held today after school on the field. Please bring athletic apparel and cleats. Any questions see Mr. A in room 222.


Yearbook Club – There will be the first sign up meeting next Thursday, October 13 at lunch in the library.


D & D Club – The first meeting is on next Tuesday, October 11th at lunchtime in room 104 to help determine interest and create player groups. No prior experience is needed!!


GSA - First meeting will be next Wednesday, October 12 in room 104. See you there!


Picture Day – Will be next Friday, October 14. Classes will be called sown.


Nourish Your Roots - The farm-to-school healthy fundraiser, is coming to our school.
Boxes contain farm-fresh Nova Scotia grown produce and they are $38 each. The money raised will directly support and help sustain our school’s healthy food programs, such as Breakfast Program and Healthy Eating Initiative. Orders and payment due to school by October 21.
Orders can be picked up at our school on November 3.  For more information and order forms, please contact the office.


Thanksgiving – Is on Monday, no school. Enjoy your long weekend.
